Raising Pigs on Moringa.
The conclusion of this article is that pigs can be raised on Moringa alone or with some luceana, thisconclusion has been proven to be incorrect. There ends up being too much fibre for the pigs single stomach to handle and they die of starvation due to plugged stomachs. Moringa can be a great additive to feed which doesn't increase the fibre content too much. If Moringa is used at 50% of the diet it will provide all the protein need of the pig but will still have need of further energy. So fattening pigs on (50%dry matter) moringa stems and leaves and 48% maize or similar energy food source and 2% nutrient salts will lead to good growth rates and in many countries sgnificant cost savings. Trials using greater than 50% moringa in a fattening pig diet are about to commence. I am happy to share my findings with others once they are in hand and if individuals contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org

Hi Peter this sounds very promising news.I have a farm in the philippines and we are using commercial feeds and its way to much money.I would like to try and use this moringa.I live in canada now and would like to learn about the alternete feeds for the pigs. When I figure out a plane then I will translate the info to my relatives there. So Peter any more info on your experiments with moringa would be great!keep up the good work.
